To that end, they are embracing a different type of calendar than the one we are used to. The one they follow is filled with celebrations of everything from secretaries, nurses and teachers to hamburgers, cheesecake and wacky inventions.
This particular week there are celebrations for Teachers, World War II Vets and Nurses. Respecting them all, Not Just Bagels is offering proof of service in these roles 10% discounts on their purchases. "Why shouldn't we?" asks owner and chef Antoinette Crudo. "These people work very hard to serve us all and they deserve our respect. As a socially conscious business, the least we can do is honor them with discounts."
The calendar Not Just Bagels is now following also gives food items their special day and Not Just Bagels plans to prepare and sell many of these items on their celebratory date, often adding discounts on those items. "We need to thank cheese cakes and cheese steaks for bringing enjoyment into our lives, despite the added calories," jokes Anthony Crudo, co-owner of Not Just Bagels.
Not Just Bagels defies being known as a "Same-o Same-o" eatery. "People get bored with menus that never change," says Antoinette. "Now, they'll be compelled to check us out daily to see what we have up our sleeves - to see what's cook'n at Not Just Bagels".
Not Just Bagels plans to announce their specials and discounts mainly through Social Media; primarily on Facebook and Twitter. Soon, they will be adding to their online presence on Instagram and Foursquare and encourage customers and fans to follow them closely on these networks.
"We make good food, run contests with prizes, offer great discounts, treat our customers right and just have plain old fun," explains Anthony. "Isn't this supposed to be why we are all in some sort of business and career?" Perhaps, a new take on life from two former accountants that got the chance to break free of precise math and do something they really enjoy to please others and themselves.
