Georgia Southern University Awards Cynthia Wright LEAP Certification

SAVANNAH, Ga. - May 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Georgia Southern University Awards Cynthia Wright LEAP Certification

(SAVANNAH, GA) Cynthia Wright has attained LEAP certification, a new program sponsored by the GSU Public Relations Advisory Board. Wright is one of five students at GSU to earn May 2014 LEAP certification.

Focusing on four key components, the acronym L.E.A.P. stands for Leadership, Experience in Communication, Academics, and Professionalism. Students can achieve certification through earning points in each of these four areas through activities including: attending workshops, publishing releases, photography, shadowing PR professionals, attending conferences, presenting speeches and serving in communication positions for clients.

GSU Public Relations Advisory Board Member, Michelle Groover said, “Receiving the LEAP certification from the Department of Communication Arts Advisory Board is significant becuase it shows the student went above and beyond their required schoolwork. It shows their dedication to the field and to the department.”

Currently, Wright is the Public Relations Coordinator at Carriage Trade PR agency, and a member of the Visibility Team. Majoring in Public Relations, Wright is a senior at Georgia Southern University, expected to graduate in May of this year. While working on her undergraduate degree, Wright was a member of the Zeta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, and a writer of the PRSSA newsletter team. She was the recipient of the HOPE scholarship for four years, and ranked on the Dean’s list. In high school, Wright majored in Communications at Savannah Arts Academy, and was a member of FBLA. Wright was also a member of the Savannah Christian Web Tech Team, and earned national recognition at the International Student Media Festival in 2004 for “Escape from Vietnam”, a website created by Wright and three of her peers.
