The Role of Social Media in Education,” will be highlighted by a panel discussion featuring highly-experienced education technology and social media thought leaders. The panel consists of Pearl Arredondo, a sixth-grade teacher and founder of the San Fernando Institute for Applied Media (SFiAM), the first pilot middle school established in the L.A. Unified School District (LAUSD); Eric DeSobe, associate director for teaching and leadership development at KIPP LA Schools, a network of free public charter elementary and middle schools in Los Angeles; Otto Khera, senior manager of USC’s Center for Scholarly Technology; and Beverly Macy, university professor and social media author and consultant. Clint Schaff, vice president and general manager of DARE, and an adjunct professor of communications at USC’s prestigious Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, will be the moderator.
