GCFLearnFree Introduces New Math Lessons

RALEIGH, N.C. - May 6, 2014 - PRLog -- GCFLearnFree.org, an online-based educational organization, has introduced the latest series in its Math tutorials: basic lessons on fractions, decimals, and percents. This series joins other tutorials available on math, including basic addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and an online game called Good at Math for users to practice what they’ve learned.

These new tutorials are designed to offer easy techniques to gain a better understanding of fractions, decimals, and percents. What sets these tutorials apart is that they use real-life scenarios as examples so users have a clearer understanding of how they are used in everyday life, which can help them to remember better.

The fractions and decimals tutorials offers not only an introduction to fractions and decimals but also lessons on comparing and reducing fractions and decimals, adding and subtracting fractions and decimals, multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals, and converting decimals and fractions, as well as percents. The percents tutorial, meanwhile, covers calculating percentages and offers examples for using them in real-life situations.

“It’s really important to us to create tutorials that reflect the way people use this type of math in real life,” says Elizabeth Szypulski, lead instructional designer for the organization’s math and reading curricula. “The lessons should be good for people who are trying to understand the basic concepts, as well as people who just need a quick refresher.”

Math is not the only subject offered via GCFLearnFree.org. The site – which offers all tutorials for free to learners around the world – also has lessons in English and reading, Microsoft Office, Internet and email basics, computer basics and using the cloud for online document storage, and social media, among other topics.
