British Singer/Songwriter Clive Farrington of When In Rome fame, celebrates the 26th Yr. Anniversary

LOS ANGELES - May 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Los Angeles/Chicago  – There are a handful of songs that have become staples in pop culture and The Promise written by Clive Farrington and Andrew Mann is one of them.

“Its hard to believe its been that long. I cant think of a wedding or anniversary party where they didn't play The Promise. I think I heard someone call The Promise the Napoleon Dynamite song one night, and that made me laugh,” said Steve Benz host of The Blend.

“I know I have mentioned this before, but The Promise wasn't written about anyone in my life or anyone around me. It just came to me one night. I woke up with the melody and first line in my head,” said songwriter Clive Farrington. “And having The Promise as the theme song for the movie Napoleon Dynamite, helped spark a resurgence of When In Rome and my song writing,” mentioned Farrington.

The band When In Rome is an English New Wave & Dance group with three top 40 US Dance hits including, The Promise, Heaven Knows and Sight of Your Tears. Having two lead singers was considered unique in a time when the music was dominated with electronic dance beats, synthesizers and shallow lyrics. When In Rome wrote love songs to a dance beat, and dance music has returned to dominate the radio airwaves around the world.

“It's a very very positive day of course Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that a song that was written in my Mum and Dad's back garden shed would have had this kind of fame, as it has become.” said Songwriter Farrington.

"Farrington's song writing continues with the release of his first solo CD called Independence in 2013. Independence showed not only the vocal range Clive has, but showed a mature viewpoint and depth of how love songs should be written by songwriters,” said radio host Steve Benz. "After it was all said and done, the album Independence won The Blend's 2013 Album of the Year award and included 2013 Song of The Year, Showdown.”

“Its an honor to win any award. Writing and Producing (with fellow composer Jon Brooks) that album in today's one song YouTube world, just showed the love and passion I have for music. I love taking the stage with Andrew Mann (fellow lead singer of When In Rome), and seeing the reactions to our When In Rome songs. We dont need to sing, the audience sings all of the lyrics. As for performing my new material, the reaction has been fabulous and I will continue to tour playing songs from my new album,” reflected Farrington with a smile on his face.
