Let’s lose some extra kilos and join the 1 Million kg Challenge in Singapore

In order to increase the awareness of healthy work life style at the workplace, Cups Media, partnered the Health Promotion Board, created a powerful awareness campaign on quality paper cups, and distributed them to the canteens of the workplaces.

 
PRLog - May 6, 2014 - SINGAPORE -- Organized by the Health Promotion Board, the 1 Million Kg Challenge is a nation-wide weight management program designed to address the rising occurrence of obesity in Singapore. Cups Media is delighted to join the effort to promote healthy work life style for the working associates in Singapore.

Leveraging on the Free Cups Campaign ™ introduced by Cups Media, Health Promotion Board’s 1 Million kg challenge messages are printed on the paper cups and distributed directly to the offices and workplaces of many people. The cups are not only displayed at their office canteen, but they are also brought into the meeting rooms, conference centers and used by the working associates at the workplace. In other words, the health awareness messages are seen, held and touched by the working adults at their workplace.

“This certainty helped to remind me to put less sugar in my coffee when I was preparing my dose each morning and afternoon. The message is powerful and timely; and I am literally holding it on my hands every day,” as shared by Mr. Tan from a local IT firm.

“I usually don’t read newspaper regularly so sometime, I miss the daily news. However, this HPB’s campaign is printed on the paper cups I used every day and it really serves as a great reminder for all of us who are working very hard in the office. Last week, we also sign up for the challenge because as a team, we all want to lose some weight and live more healthily,” highlighted by Mr. Joseph Wang, who works in the CBD.

The movement had integrated well with other effort and created a huge “WOW” for many. Together with other outreach activities, the team is encouraged to see very positive response from individuals and companies in Singapore. Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Health and Manpower, also shared, “We are encouraged to note that since the launch of Phase One in January 2014, the 1 Million kg Challenge has gained wide-based organizational support and support from individuals. 18 companies and more than 10,000 individuals have signed up for the Challenge.”

Obesity increases the likelihood of weight-related illnesses and healthcare expenses, as well as decreases the quality of life for the affected obesity. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), at least 2.8 million deaths each year are attributable to overweight or obesity; like many other developed countries, the overweight and obesity trend in Singapore is rising.

The Director of Cups Media, Ms. Joelle Goh, was excited about the success of the results. She revealed, “Obesity increases the likelihood of weight-related illness and healthcare expenses, as well as decreases the quality of life for the affected obesity and their families. According to the World Health Organization, at least 2.8 million deaths each year are attributed to overweight; like many other developed countries, the overweight trend in our country is rising.
