Corporate Social Responsibility Experts Explore New Strategies That Link the Worlds of Commerce and Caring

TUSTIN, Calif. - May 5, 2014 - PRLog -- TUSTIN, Calif. (May 5, 2014) –The Association for Corporate Growth Orange County (http://www.acg.org/occ/) chapter (ACG OC) will host a networking and corporate social responsibility lunch at the Westin South Coast Plaza on Thursday, May 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event, titled “The Business of Doing Good” will feature Jack Toan, vice president and community affairs manager at Wells Fargo and Mike Fuhr, senior director of corporate relations at Discovery Science Center discussing how corporate social responsibility is working in the middle-market and how executives can link the worlds of commerce and caring.

         “Corporate social responsibility is a business philosophy that stresses the importance of keeping the best interests of the wider society in mind,” said Mike Issa, ACG OC board president. “Toan’s and Fuhr’s knowledge and expertise in this field will help attendees polish their understanding of corporate social responsibility as it relates to middle-market companies.”

         “The Business of Doing Good” will provide Orange County professionals the opportunity to network and gain corporate giving insight from Toan and Fuhr. Toan will share his knowledge on the importance of charitable giving and volunteerism and Fuhr will present ways to identify collaborative opportunities that create long-term corporate partnerships. Their knowledge of corporate community relations will provide professionals with an understanding of how to create social changes through action.

         Toan is the founder for a children’s self-defense and safety awareness program in partnership with the Horizon Cross Cultural Community Center. He holds an MBA from UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business, and is a graduate of the Southern California Leadership Network.  On the Discovery Science board since 2002, Fuhr specializes in finding ways to connect the Science Center with the corporate community and received the Center’s most recent award, the National Medal of Service, for his efforts.
