ACAC Earns Prestigious Accreditation from NCCA

By: American Council for Accreditation (ACAC)
YARNELL, Ariz. - May 6, 2014 - PRLog -- The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) has been granted accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) for two of its indoor air quality certifications.  The Council-certified Microbial Consultant (CMC) and the Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) are both accredited for a period of five years.

Both the CIEC and CMC programs have also been accredited by The Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB) since 2006, along with 16 other ACAC certifications.  With CESB and NCCA accreditations, ACAC becomes the first credentialing body to have dual accreditation for programs specific to the IAQ industry.

“NCCA accreditation is widely recognized for good reason,” said Charlie Wiles, ACAC executive director.  “NCCA standards are extremely high, and this accreditation is a testament to the integrity and credibility of our CIEC and CMC programs. We are proud to be the first certifying body dedicated to indoor air quality to offer dual accreditation to its certificants.”

The CIEC and CMC designations attest to the industry knowledge and field experience of hundreds of professionals around the world.  The CMC program focuses on microbial sampling and consulting, while the CIEC attests to a range of experience in multiple disciplines related to indoor air quality, including mold, lead and asbestos, HVAC systems, building science and industrial hygiene.  In addition to a psychometrically rated examination, both designations require eight years of verified field experience and unanimous approval from a nationawide board of industry experts.

NCCA is the accrediting body of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (formerly NOCA), founded in 1977 as a third-party accrediting organization dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of practice in the certification industry.  NCCA accreditation requires certifying bodies to demonstrate compliance with published standards for program organization and operation as well as exam development, administration and maintenance.
