Follow on Google News | Fantastic Start To The 2014 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany Championship For Connor De PhillippiThe 2014 race season got off to a great start for the young Porsche Junior driver. With a solid P5 finish in race 1 at Hockenheim, De Phillippi will start from pole position in race 2 thanks to a new qualifying lap record!
By: CDP Racing During the first qualifying session, De Phillippi was hindered by traffic and could not string together a lap he knew the car was capable of, but still managed to put the car up the grid in a respectable P7. "Q1 was definitely a bit tricky with all of the cars on track and I unfortunately got caught up with a couple yellow flags that definitely cost us at a few tenths. However, Q2 was much better and we were able to put together a lap that put us on pole position for race 2." With a P7 starting position for race 1, De Phillippi was engaged in a tight battle during the opening laps, but was able to quickly gain a couple positions, maintain that gap and bring home a top 5 finish. After the race, De Phillippi commented, "Race 1 worked out about as well as it could for us with our starting position and bringing home a top 5 is a great way to kick off the season. Now we need to focus on tomorrow. With the car the FÖRCH Racing by Lukas Motorsports guys gave me today, we are in the prime spot to challenge for the win tomorrow. A huge thanks goes out to my team and all of my supporters." Race 2 goes green at 1:00am Pacific Time on Sunday and can be followed live via Porsche Motorsports live streaming at http://www.porsche.com/ About Connor De Phillippi: Following in similar footsteps to American Porsche Works driver Patrick Long, Connor De Phillippi started racing go-karts at the young age of 5 years old.
