A decade of youth empowerment: MOUSE Squad of California commemorates 10th anniversary milestone

PRLog - May 2, 2014 - SAN JOSE, Calif. -- MOUSE Squad of California (MSCA), a student tech leadership program that has empowered thousands of underserved students in 22 counties throughout the state, will celebrate its 10 year anniversary on Thursday, May 22,with a special benefit highlighting the program’s tremendous work throughout its inaugural decade.

Taking place at the Tech Museum of Innovation from 6:00-8:30 p.m., guests, alumni and educators will enjoy an evening with keynote speaker, President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Carl Guardino, and emcee, Telemundo's Blanca Garza, while dining on delicious hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Guests may tour a showcase of student-built tech projects and will have the opportunity to listen to esteemed alum share their success stories.MSCA will also honor longstanding partners and host a silent auction with proceeds benefitting MSCA.

MSCA is a program of Aspiranet, a leading human services agency that provides after-school, youth development and community technology programs. MSCAis known for providing quality science, technology, engineering and math education (STEM) to students in grades 4-12.  The agency has been honored with the STEM Benchmark Award in Technology from Silicon Valley Education Foundation and recognized by the California After School Network as an “exemplary after-school STEM program” in the Network’s report to the California State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

"Community support is so vital to keeping our program going, allowing us to touch the lives of over 3,000 students in the past year,” said Jan Half, MSCA Program Director. “Silicon Valley needs the skills we are helping teach our students, and we take pride knowing that our program alumni are going on to have amazing careers in the Silicon Valley tech industry.”
