The Occupant Classification System (OCS) software has been incorrectly detecting when the passenger seat is occupied, which has led to faulty airbag deployments during crashes in certain models. The system may classify the seat as empty when there’s a passenger in the seat. This deactivates the airbag and has led to serious injuries. This recall requires Nissan owners to bring their vehicles in to dealers to update the OCS software free of charge.
