FINRA Arbitration filed against Investors Capital Corp. to recover alternative investments losses

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - May 2, 2014 - PRLog -- The claim, filed against Investors Capital Corp., seeks recovery of investment losses between $250,000 and $499,999.

The claim filed by The White Law Group was filed on behalf of two Winter Haven, Florida investors and alleges claims for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, and negligent supervision. The claim further alleges that the investors were unsuitably invested in various alternative investments and that Investors Capital Corp. only selected the investments because of the commissions generated as a result of the recommendations.  The claim also alleges that Investors Capital Corp. failed to perform the proper due diligence on the investments prior to offering them for sale to their clients.

Broker-dealers have a fiduciary duty to perform adequate due diligence on any investment prior to recommending them for sale to their clients and to ensure that the investments it recommends are appropriate for the client in light of the clients age, investment experience, net worth, and investment objectives.

The claim involves the following alternative investments, among others:

SCI Mezzanine Fund

Ridgewood Energy Fund

G REIT, Inc.

United Development Fund
