Mariners General Insurance Group Continues 2014 Expansion, Adds New Florida Regional Manager

PRLog - May 2, 2014 - BRADENTON, Fla. -- Mariners General Insurance Group, a highly respected marine insurance company based in Newport Beach, Calif. for more than 50 years, has announced the addition of Richard (Rick) Mallard to its growing organization, effective immediately.  Mallard, a 34-year veteran of the marine and aviation industries, will assume all operations of the company’s regional office in Bradenton, Florida.

Mallard’s hire in the Southeast follows the addition earlier this year of San Francisco-area industry leader Carolyn Pounds, who currently oversees Mariners’ new regional services in the Bay Area.  The venerable company, well-established throughout the Southern California boating community, first served clients from its longstanding Newport Beach location and its second California office in San Diego.  Today, Mariners continues to expand its operations around the country – both organically and from acquiring companies with strong books of business in existing areas as well as regions not currently served, including the Mid Atlantic and Pacific Northwest, which reflect late-2014 expansion targets.

“As Mariners General Insurance Group sets sail on another 50 years of successfully protecting its customers’ vessels, it does so with great leadership – both at our company headquarters and from coast to coast at each of our regional offices,” said Byron Chamberlain, the founder and president of Mariners General Insurance Group.  “Rick is a skilled professional with a proven track record for managing successful businesses and the strong relationships on which thriving business are based.”

An avid and lifelong recreational boater and career insurance professional, Mallard, a native Floridian, comes to Mariners General Insurance Group having previously managed his own insurance agency with a multi-million-dollar book of business.  He has significant experience in the aviation industry, has a strong navigational background, and has always remained well-connected to the Florida boating community. He owns in-state licenses as both an agent (2-20) and adjuster (5-20).

“I’m extremely fortunate to have been able to blend my professional insurance background with my deep passion for boating and aviation and thereby create extremely fulfilling career opportunities,” said Mallard.  “To be able to do so now, at a company as well-known and well-respected as Mariners General Insurance Group, is truly a privilege.”
