Pickford Community Library's YA Writer's Workshop book release soiree

MOUNT DORA, Fla. - April 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Pickford Community Library's YA Writer's Workshop book release soiree

The Pickford Community Library’s Young Adult Writers Workshop will release their 2014 anthology and an individual novella in mid-May of this year.  In celebration of the event, a Book-Release Soirée will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 7:00 pm at the Pickford Community Library, 230 E. Main Street in Pickford. Eleven students participated in the group during the 2013-2014 season with several of them completing short stories, flash fiction, and essays to be published in the Young Adult Writers Workshop’s second eBook anthology, which is a free download available in various formats.  One of the participants has completed a novella which will be published as a separate free eBook.

Katie Arman, Amy Lehigh, Edyn Nettleton, and Chelsea Ross will each be represented in the “2014 Pickford Community Library’s Young Adult Writers Workshop Anthology of Short Stories, Flash Fiction, and Essays.”  Chelsea’s contribution to the anthology is an essay that took first place in last year’s Veterans Day Essay Contest in Pickford.  Jessica Arman’s novella, “Protective Measures,” is an action/adventure science fiction story featuring a teenage girl, with an overabundance of attitude, and her friends who save a military-style school from a dictatorial master.  The book will definitely keep readers on the edges of their seats. The Young Writers Workshop’s first anthology (2012-2013) is currently available for check-out through Great Lakes Digital Libraries.  It can be accessed through the Digital Library tab at www.pickfordlibrary.org  (just type Pickford in the search box) or at http://gldl.lib.overdrive.com/.  It is also available in hard copy at the Pickford Community Library.

The 2014 free eBook anthology and the free eBook novella will be published by JLB Creatives Publishing.  Janet Beasley of Florida (CEO of JLB Creatives Publishing) and Dar Bagby of Brimley (head of the Manuscript Editing/Proofreading Department) co-teach the free bi-weekly classes at the library (Janet participates via Skype).  Both donate their time as mentors, and all publication services are free to the group.  Both are authors, as well.  The public is invited to help celebrate the release of these young writers’ works and to congratulate them on their latest efforts, as well as becoming trade-published authors.  Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Pickford Community Library.  For more information, contact Pickford Community Library Manager Ann Marie Smith at 906) 647-1288 (tel:906%29%20647-1288) or at amsmith@uproc.lib.mi.us.  Updates will also be available at www.pickfordlibrary.org and https://www.facebook.com/PickfordCommunityLibrary.  The Pickford Community Library is located at 230 East Main Street in downtown Pickford.  Please help us honor these amazing young authors.
