Follow on Google News | Men Really Are From Mars And Women From Venus When It Comes To Choice Of Holiday DestinationsBy: Holiday Hypermarket A survey by online travel agent Holiday Hypermarket (http://www.holidayhypermarket.co.uk/) The same report claims that the majority (58%) of women have, or will be, booking the holiday for their family in 2014 though, so it seems men in the UK might be the ones compromising on the destination! The findings highlight some other general trends. Men would rather opt for a European destination over and above a long haul holiday because they don’t like to travel for more than four hours. Women, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind travelling for up to 12 hours to reach their dream holiday destination, with over 60% saying they prefer long haul destinations to short haul holidays. Men are pretty firm on how long they want to be in a foreign climate for with 92% saying they would like longer holidays away from work, but nearly two thirds said they only want to be away on holiday for a maximum of 10 days. Most women opted for two weeks. Women said the reasons why Thailand, the Caribbean, Florida or Mexico are in their top five are: wanting to visit somewhere new, guaranteed sunshine, long haul bargains, means taking a longer time period off work and recommendations of friends/family. Home Birds Men feel ‘more at home’ when staying in short haul destinations and find going further afield ‘hard work’ on the plane. Even though they like going further afield women still like to look for a discount on the holiday with 40% stating they will carry out research on the internet and find the best deal for them/their family. Top five destinations for men Turkey Majorca Canary Islands Egypt Italy Top five destinations for women Thailand Caribbean Florida Mexico Maldives Kay Dixon from Holiday Hypermarket said: “Long haul holidays are becoming increasingly popular and our latest research has confirmed what our own data shows – that women are booking the holidays and the dominant decision maker. It’s interesting that women in both couples and families want to go further afield as women’s sense of adventure grows.” For more information visit www.holidayhypermarket.co.uk End
