Kimberton Waldorf School Hosts Annual May Faire Celebration

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - April 30, 2014 - PRLog -- Kimberton Waldorf School, 410 West Seven Stars Road, Phoenixville welcomes spring with its annual May Faire, Saturday, May 3, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. The May Faire is a "don't-miss" festival for families with children of all ages, and is a community-wide celebration filled with lively dance, games, food, and crafts for all.

The festival offers a variety of fun activities, including Maypole dancing, a puppet show, face painting, hobby horse obstacle course, creating may crowns, a magic show, perennial plant sale, a play space for parents and small children, and much more. Attendees will have a chance to meet the “Pocket Lady” and pick a small treasure from one of her many pockets! The day ends with the traditional boat race (Kimberton Armada) that sets sail on the French Creek; toy wooden boats will be available for purchase.

“After a long winter, our May Faire offers the opportunity for the entire community to come together and celebrate the beauty and richness of the spring season.” said Kevin Hughes, Dean of School. “Our students have been excitedly rehearsing their dances, and the May Pole stands tall in the center of campus, bedecked with fresh flowers and ribbons. With engaging activities for the whole family, we look forward to welcoming everyone to our school to share in festivities of the day.”

Waldorf Education celebrates the rhythm of the year through festivals honoring the season and the natural world. Through our festival life at Kimberton Waldorf School, we build and strengthen the community, establish a yearly rhythm for the children, and nourish ourselves by sharing stories, songs, and activities linked to the seasons. The May Faire is one of our largest festivals of the year, as many friends, neighbors, alumni, and newcomers join our school to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Admission to the event is free, with delicious food and crafts available for purchase. For further details, please visit http://www.kimberton.org/mayfaire.
