"Elliott and his band mates exploded onto the scene in the 80's. Their sound was raw, gritty and their live shows were second to none. Joe's vocals and writing has influenced two generations, and is heard on the tracks from top bands including Coldplay and Foo Fighters” said radio host Steve Benz. "Now, Joe is not only standing on his own with “Down and Outz,” but he pays homage to the bands that influenced him.”
“Rock and Roll Queen was a Mott The Hoople track from the 70's. After performing their songs and being asked if their was going to be a record, I just picked out songs that I thought my fans would want me to sing and it worked,” said the legendary voice of Joe Elliott.
Now Joe and his band mates hit the road with the years biggest tour with one of the greatest American bands, Kiss. “I was talking to Gene (Simmons is the bassist of Kiss), and he mentioned that we had never toured together....it was really simple to put the tour together. After about six weeks of talking, we had a co-headliner tour worked out,” said Elliott.
Steve later joked about wearing Kiss make up during the tour. “I am not coming out in guy-liner. I never like it, its too much work. Besides, I'm sure I would put Paul's star on the wrong eye,” laughed the lead singer. “I'm enjoying my life and recording new tracks in Dublin with Def Leppard,” said Elliott “I am the archivist of the group. I have dusty cassettes, do you remember cassettes sitting in storage. It was fun to dust them off and re-release the grittier songs of Def Leppard for the Slang release. The double Slang CD was release earlier this year.
Tickets are now available for the Def Leppard and Kiss Tour. If you missed Steve's interview with Joe Elliott, it is available to listen or download on I-tunes, or click here: http://recordings.talkshoe.com/
