DURANT, Okla. - April 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Durant, OK – The race to bring true fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) in Calera goes to family-owned Cherokee Communications. Cherokee recently connected the first homes in Calera to true FTTH with plans to move into Durant in the coming months.

Fiber Internet is gaining popularity with names like Google Fiber and Verizon FiOS. While these services are carried over Fiber lines, Cherokee Communications is the region’s first service to connect the home directly to a Fiber network.

“It’s exciting to bring the most modern, fastest tech to southeast Oklahoma,” says Cherokee VP of operations Sam Sanchez. “Fiber takes the limits off homes and business looking to grow families and jobs here.

Cherokee’s Fiber Now service carries HDTV, digital voice and Internet over a fiber infrastructure that Cherokee has built over four years. Fiber Now will be available in select neighborhoods in Durant and Calera.

Invitations are going out now. Residents and businesses may apply at www.stopthebuffering.com.

Family-owned Cherokee Communications was founded as Cherokee Telephone Company in 1956. Since connecting the first modern telephone network in Calera, Cherokee has expanded to offer Internet, digital voice and television service.
