15th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival to Showcase an Exclusive Screening of Australian Cinema

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - April 28, 2014 - PRLog -- The15th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) will present its Australian Spotlight, an evening celebration of Australian cinema and culture on Monday, April 28,2014. The event will feature the West Coast Premiere of the highly anticipated film, Goddess, followed by a festive Pacific Rim Gala.

Talented singer-songwriter Elspeth Dickens (Laura Michelle Kelly) thinks her chance of stardom has come and gone. Now married to James (Ronan Keating), whose work as a whale-saving activist takes him to sea for weeks at a time, she finds her days more than filled looking after three-year-old twins. But Elspeth hasn’t quite given up on her dreams, and when she sets up a webcam in her kitchen to keep her husband entertained with performances of her own, self-penned show-stoppers, she becomes an internet sensation overnight. Goddess is written and directed by Mark Lamprell and also stars: Magda Szubanski, Pia Miranda, Corinne Grant, Tamsin Carroll, Dustin Clare and Hugo Johnstone-Burt.

         The Australian Spotlight film will screen on Monday, April 28th, 2014 at 8:00pm at the Regency Lido Theatre (3459 Via Lido, Newport Beach, CA 92663). The Pacific Rim Gala will take place at Jaguar Land Rover Newport Beach (1540 Jamboree Road, Newport Beach, CA 92660).

The evening will include a hosted bar by Tito’s Vodka and Stella Artois Beer, signature tastings from several top Orange County restaurants, multiple DJs and live entertainment.

The 2014 Newport Beach Film Festival Australian Spotlight is supported by the American Australian Association, Australians in Film, AusFilm, G’DayUSA, World View Travel Company and the Australian Consulate General in Los Angeles. Admission to the Australian Spotlight film and the Pacific Rim Gala is $40.00.

Other Australian films screening at the Newport Beach Film Festival include Around the Block (North American Premiere), Felony (West Coast Premiere)and The Infinite Man (West Coast Premiere)in the Festival’s narrative feature program, and OUT in the lineup (North American Premiere)and Serendipity (North American Premiere)in the Action Sports Film Series.
