– The third annual One World International Festival took place recently at the College of Coastal Georgia & featured a performance & Hip Hop Lesson from up and coming local artist Carlton Dawson a.k.a Tajonyx
. With his uniquely soothing, soulful voice and his explosive energy – Tajonyx enticed his fans to participate in something special…along with a group of talented dancers Tajonyx entertained & inspired, leaving his fans wanting more.
The Multicultural Committee of the College and the Robert S. Abbott Race Unity Institute sponsored the event. Established in 2007, the Abbott Race Unity Institute promotes greater cultural, racial, social, and religious unity in Brunswick and the Golden Isles. The Institute commemorates St. Simons native Robert S. Abbott, the son of former slaves, who founded the first national African American newspaper, Chicago Defender
, and was a nationally-known activist for racial and social justice.
For those that are meeting Carlton for the first time….this amazingly talented singer/songwriter/
dancer is one of Georgia’s own, raised in Columbus, GA. With his background in music education from GSW and his passion for dance, Carlton has been performing his entire life. As a music teacher at Satilla Marsh Elementary, dance instructor at Jill Stanford Dance Studio, & Praise Band Leader at Community Church; he shares his enthusiasm and joyful exuberance for music, dance, and performing with his students thus helping to shape a new generation of artists and musicians - as his own incredible journey continues.
Combining his faith and inner strength - Carlton brings his amazing talent, undying passion, clear vision, and refreshing artistry to Tajonyx.
