This determined female executive has been recognized within the industry as an individual who employs persistence and competitiveness to achieve desired outcomes. “Melissa has huge potential and we are excited to see her grow and take over the San Antonio market and then put things in place which will allow her to continue to expand further,” said current CEO of SAS, Jon. Establishing her new firm, Melissa will be applying this same drive on behalf of her recently-signed clients, with several campaigns set to launch over the summer.
Melissa explained her leadership style in this way, “I'm a very competitive person.” She went on to explain that this characteristic developed because of her love of sports. “I’ve always applied my motto to go big or go home whether I’m playing to win in the field or in the office. For me, that means if I do anything at all, I need to be the one who does it better than the person before me did it.” The CEO Jon went on further to explain, “Melissa played softball through college and that constant interacting with different people definitely set her up for success in this game. The hard work and willingness to practice on the softball field was carried into her career which has now benefited us all!”
As the first individual in her family to head a division, Melissa has received a lot of praise from those closest to her, though knowing her character they were not surprised when she reached this milestone.
In addition to her conviction to face every challenge as a true competitor, Melissa has a policy to never make the same mistake twice. Her philosophy is a lesson learned is a lesson passed. She refuses to make excuses and instead she takes each new challenge as a learning opportunity. “I hope that while learning to manage a large group of people with diverse backgrounds, Melissa learned the importance in having fun in doing what we do,” said Jon.

Like any other new start-up, SAS will require the complementary strengths of many people in order to get established and to develop a reputation in the community. Assisting Melissa in the set-up of her new enterprise will be three hand-picked individuals:
According to the new CEO, “Ellen is very good in regards of building relationships with people and will be a huge asset in fostering a team environment around the office.”
Ellen had this to say about being asked to join the leadership team of SAS, “I am extremely excited! I'm ready and rearing to get Melissa's division up and running and to get her name on the map!”
Ashley will also be joining the team, and according to Melissa, has essential strengths in coaching people and delivering promotional campaigns. Reflecting on her appointment to the team, Ashley said, “It’s going to be such an amazing experience to be among the first associates to open the new market. There will be so many fresh opportunities to serve our clientele and I’m really excited to be expanding their reach in this market.”
Finally, Katelyn is lauded by Melissa as someone who knows how to strategically overcome challenges in order to seize opportunities. She will be a crucial member of the team as the firm is sure to hit obstacles as they become more established in the region.
Katelyn said, “After being on the team for a while I saw the potential in moving up to management roles, I thought it would be years before I was promoted to a leadership position but after working hard with Melissa she showed me just how possible it is. Now that I’ve been asked to take on this role with the new market, I’m really thrilled!”
