TAMPA, Fla. - April 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Tampa, FL – The Pet Professional Guild (PPG) has announced the winners of its virtual international community event, The International Day of Celebration for Force-Free Training and Pet Care (ICFF) in honor of one of its founding members, the late Leah Roberts. To participate, PPG members were required to walk, jog, run, train or spend a total of 30 minutes of force-free fun time with their pet, anywhere they chose.

A separate photo competition ran alongside for members to demonstrate participation in their chosen event. The photos were judged on originality and creativity, with a special emphasis on how much force-free fun the human and pet were having.

“We created the Leah Roberts Foundation and introduced the ICFF awards as a tribute to Leah, whom we lost in March this year, to recognize her lifelong crusade for force-free training and better treatment for all pet dogs,” said Niki Tudge, PPG Founder and President. “Each year on February 17, the ICFF will be celebrated in Leah’s honor and will stand as a promise and renewed dedication to further our industry and its operating practices, standards and philosophies.”

The Leah Roberts Foundation will actively manage and implement ICFF and other PPG educational advocacy events each year. PPG plans to dedicate 10 percent of all PPG income to the foundation to spread its message that training animals using forceful and punitive methods is not only ineffectual but in fact counter-productive and aversive.

The Pet Professional Guild is a 501(c)6 a member organization founded on the principles of force-free training and pet care. Its membership represents pet industry professionals who are committed to force-free training, pet care philosophies, practices and methods. Pet Professional Guild members understand force-free to mean: no shock, no pain, no choke, no fear, no physical force, no physical molding, and that no compulsion-based methods are employed to train or care for a pet.
