The partnership between The Growth Coach and They Shall Walk is a case study in how The Growth Coach’s services can not only stabilize a business, but also help the owners get their lives back.

PRLog - Apr. 25, 2014 - SEATTLE -- Seattle, WA – When Monty Reed found himself unable to walk after a parachuting accident, he dreamed of a robotic LIFESUIT that would help retrain his body. And when he found himself drowning in the daily needs of the They Shall Walk LIFESUIT organization, he turned to someone who could help him retrain his business – The Growth Coach.

“When I met Growth Coach Pam Jackson, I was working during the day, coming home to see my wife and kids in the evening and then going back to work at night. Then there would be days when my chronic pain kept me in bed and I would be on the phone the entire day with my eyes closed. I had people come into my bedroom with notebooks,” Reed said. “The Growth Coach helped me structure the business so it could run without me. Now it’s They Shall Walk – not the Monty Reed Company.”

The partnership between The Growth Coach and They Shall Walk is a case study in how The Growth Coach’s services can not only stabilize a business, but also help the owners get their lives back.

It all started when Reed’s high school counselor told him he wasn’t smart enough for college – so he joined the Army. When his parachute didn’t open during a jump with the US Army Rangers, Reed was told by the experts that he was lucky to be alive, but that he’d never walk again.

“I remember asking God how I could do anything when I have nothing to offer. I wasn’t smart enough and my body was broken … That’s when I had a dream of a robotic suit that would help me learn to walk and assist me when I needed to exercise. I had a vision and, after a few years, I found people to help me. Together we built the LIFESUIT Robotic Exoskeleton, which paralyzed or disabled people can use to stand, walk or exercise,” Reed said. “We want people to be able to use this technology at home, but right now it’s still in development and only available at hospitals for an hour at a time.”

They Shall Walk, the non-profit organization behind the LIFESUIT, was founded as the North Seattle Robotics Group in 2001 and, in 2008, Reed realized something needed to change. Working day and night not only meant that he was burning the candle at both ends despite his failing health – it also meant that the company was entirely dependent on him each and every day. That’s when he met Growth Coach Pam Jackson at a chamber event.

When they met, Jackson had recently opened The Growth Coach of The Greater Seattle Area with her father, Dave Hope. Before breaking into coaching, she spent 17 years in corporate marketing and strategic planning. She’s also a trained life coach.

“I was just drawn to Monty and, as we started to get to know each other at chamber events, he shared his struggles both with funding and with the daily operations of the company. I invited him to be part of one of our Strategic Business Owner workshops. We’ve been working together for about six years now and it’s wonderful to see the progress he’s made,” Jackson said.

The Growth Coach, the #1 business and sales coaching franchise for 2013 according to Entrepreneur Magazine, is dedicated to helping small business owners, business leaders, management teams, sales people and self-employed professionals to be more successful while finding the necessary balance between business and life. While The Growth Coach is the world’s largest provider of affordable group coaching workshops, their coaches also provide one-to-one coaching, remote coaching delivered via phone and web, and special project coaching.

Through his work with The Growth Coach, Reed has not only been able to secure substantial funding for the project, but he’s also brought in additional leadership and staff to run the daily operations, created systems and handbooks for employees, developed succession plans, and stepped back from the CEO role.

“Now we have people who have specific hats and they wear them. With The Growth Coach’s help, we were able to develop the tools and bring in the people we needed to have a more successful organization that didn’t depend on me. I’m a founder now instead of a CEO,” Reed said. “In fact, because of the work we did with The Growth Coach, I have the time now to help my wife launch her own business focused on emergency preparedness and freeze dried cooking. There’s no way that could’ve happened before.”

“Anyone who feels like they started a business and ended up with a job should work with The Growth Coach. They can help you learn how to work ON your business instead of IN your business. It’s been an amazing experience for me,” he added.

While Reed is thankful for the positive impact The Growth Coach has had on his business and life, Jackson is also grateful for Monty and his work.

“Monty is the poster child for making positive change in the world. When I reflect back on our partnership, I can see how much I’m drawn to people and business leaders who want to affect positive change in their families, their careers, their communities and the world. Working with Monty has helped me know that The Growth Coach is where I’m meant to be. It allows me to really change people’s lives and that brings me the greatest joy,” Jackson said.

The Growth Coach was recently included in the Bond’s Top 100 Franchises and has been recognized in Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Franchise 500” as the #1 Business Coaching and Consulting Franchise as well as in the magazine’s “Best of the Best” and “Top Home-Based Business” listings. The company’s Strategic Mindset Process is so effective that it comes with a money-back guarantee.
