3 Day Startup NYC to Host Entrepreneur Prep and Pitch Program April 25-27

Over 40 entrepreneurs join 3 Day Startup NYC to launch tech startups over 72 hours.

PRLog - Apr. 24, 2014 - MANHATTAN, N.Y. -- This Friday, 40 entrepreneurial hopefuls will settle in at a South Street Seaport workspace—their home for the weekend, donated by the Howard Hughes Corporation—where they will work round-the-clock to prepare business pitches for a panel of investors. No, this isn’t “Shark Tank: NYC Edition;” but the New York City chapter (http://nyc.3daystartup.org/) of 3 Day Startup (3DS NYC) hopes its 2014 program will bring just as much success to its participants.

3 Day Startup is a global non-profit organization that produces living entrepreneurship laboratories, which equip participants with the tools and exposure they need to start a successful company. Participants from diverse industry and experience backgrounds work with mentors through the intensive three-day programs to develop the group’s strongest startup ideas and pitch their prototypes to a panel of investors.

To date, 3DS alumni have launched over 71 tech and social enterprise companies (http://3daystartup.org/companies-founded-by-3ds-alumni/) and secured $18 million in investor capital.

For 3DS NYC, the spring 2014 program is especially exciting. The Howard Hughes Corporation has donated a versatile space for the weekend event, which will accommodate both the preparation days and the culminating Sunday evening pitch session.  Phillip St. Pierre, General Manager of the South Street Seaport says of the partnership, “We are extremely excited to be hosting 3 Day Startup NYC.  The Howard Hughes Corporation shares and applauds their commitment to innovation, the entrepreneurial spirit, and honest feedback.”

Now in its third year, 3DS NYC was also able to attract a number of noteworthy startup business mentors to its program, including Nir Markus, founder of the mobile based English learning application OKPanda (http://www.crunchbase.com/organization/smart-bites), and Camille Murphy-Budgen, General Assembly’s (https://generalassemb.ly/) Designer and Creative Director. Desiree Frieson, lead organizer of the 3DS NYC program, remarks, “Our outstanding roster of mentors this year will provide invaluable insights to participants as they work on cross-disciplinary collaboration, brainstorming and ideation, ad-hoc leadership and decision-making, all under severe time constraints”

The potential investors who have signed on to hear the final presentations further raise the stakes for the participants. High Peak Ventures, Bain & Company, FinTech Collective and CoVenture are among the firms that will be represented at Sunday evening’s program.

Join us at the Sunday night investor pitch session! (VERY Limited Space).

6PM- 8PM South Street Seaport, 207 Front Street
