ASCCO is directed by Dr. Qiao Chen Solomon come together with guest artist Rashid Brown concerto bassist to present an exuberant Spring concert.
The concert theme is "Orchestral Favorites from Russia", and the pieces on the program are: May Night Overture (La Nuit de Mai), Polovetsian Dances, Adagio from Spartacus, and Night on the Bald Mountain.
The concert is Sunday, April 27th at 8pm on the campus of Agnes Scott College in the Presser Hall, Gaines Chapel.
About Rashid Brown: a lifelong performer, double bassist, dancer, conductor, composer and clinician who specializes in music policy, bass pedagogy, string development and music education.
A native resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rashid Brown began his music career at the age of ten studying the Suzuki method with cellist and bassist Richard Straub of the Nevada School of the Arts for the gifted.
By the age of thirteen Rashid Brown was playing professionally with the Nevada Symphony, Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra, Las Vegas Summer Festival Orchestra and others.
With a broad background in music Rashid Brown has traveled nationally and internationally as a bassist touring Europe, South America and Central America.
Presently, Rashid Brown is principal bassist of Atlanta Philharmonic Orchestra (http://atlantaphilharmonic.org) and the World Civic Orchestra in New York City (http://worldcivicorchestra.org).
