On Sunday, May 4th, Girls Rock! DC will host their first annual female artist showcase, “We Rock so Girls Rock” at U Street Music Hall. This exciting benefit concert (hosted by NonChalant) will feature DC-based female fronted bands Be’la Dona and Black Alley (http://www.blackalleyband.com/ Washington, DC is known for breeding some of the world’s most accomplished musicians of our time. From Chuck Brown to Marvin Gaye, DC is proud of our music and our musicians. Since 2007, Girls Rock! DC has worked tirelessly to help add more young female musicians to DC’s music history books. Annie Lipsitz, a member of the Girls Rock! DC leadership team shares her excitement about this year’s showcase. “We are really excited to have so many talented, local women performers play and support Girls Rock! DC. Everyone who is participating in this event - the performers, the audience members, and the volunteers - are helping Girls Rock! DC grow our community.
