His interest blossomed into business when the first phone case he made for a research project became the envy of his friends.
“Once I posted the picture to Facebook, people kept asking me where I got it, where they could get one, or if I was selling them. So I decided to give a couple to people, and the demand started to grow,” says Wittbrodt.
Now the 3D cases are the envy of a much larger audience at ShopMyNorth where WittPrint 3D is a featured retailer.
"Our goal is to provide Northern Michigan retailers with a means of selling online--easily and affordably. The variety of ways we promote our shop items is a major bonus for our featured retailers who benefit from a high level of exposure." says Traverse Magazine Founder, Deborah Wyatt Fellows.
In September of 2013, Wittbrodt turned his products into a full-time pursuit by developing a website for his business, WittPrint 3D, and fine-tuning his designs to make them more sleek and comfortable to hold. Wittbrodt first started printing using a variant of a RepRap Prusa i2. He built it in the winter of 2012 and has now printed over 1000 hours on it.
Selling his product at ShopMyNorth will be an easy way for Wittbrodt to keep his business thriving while pursuing a masters degree in material science and engineering from Michigan Tech.
"By selling products on ShopMyNorth retailers bypass the worries of credit card processing online and security. They can also take advantage of our design and development services to effectively reach our 46,000 ShopMyNorth customers." notes Account Executive, Drew Warner.
Wittbrodt continues to grow his business and broaden his horizon. This summer he’s open to the possibility of designing cases to suit other phone models. When he does, ShopMyNorth will be ready to deliver.
