To celebrate this new wave of innovation, social impact accelerator tiphub and startup advisory firm Mansa Colabs are rallying to educate and inspire Washingtonians with DC Tech Afrique Weekend April 26-28 at Impact Hub DC at 419 7th st. Washington, DC 20001.
DC Tech Afrique Weekend
The weekend will kick off on Saturday, the 26th at 10 am with a hackathon for Revisionprep, an African Diaspora youth-led venture that aims to develop a gamified online social learning tool to offer an alternative to traditional exam preparation in Ghanaian Junior High Schools for the national Basic Education Certificate Examination. The event will assemble students, coders, engineers, and business development professionals into cross-disciplinary set of teams to assist the startup in identifying opportunities/
The weekend will proceed with the Sunday night, 6:30 pm launch of Africandevjobs.com, a social platform for recruitment, networking, and information surrounding African business development and conclude with a 6:30 pm Monday night fireside chat with Betty Enyonam Kumahor, Regional Managing Director of Pan-Africa for ThoughtWorks, a global IT consulting firm. Though the Thoughtworks South Africa location is only a little over 2 years old the company has already been nominated as Best African Company of the Year 2013 by African Business Awards. It has also sparked impact on the continent with a diverse portfolio of clients including some of the largest, most innovative, and socially impactful organizations in Africa.
