Dolly Parton says of the series: “Well, I’ve finally come across someone who believes in all the things that I do .. love, family, faith, intrigue, mystery, loyalty, romance, and a great love for our beloved Smoky Mountains, Dr. Lin Stepp, I salute you.”  In addition to Dolly’s stamp of approval, nationally acclaimed artist Jim Gray’s stunning paintings are used on the cover of each book.

Lin and her husband, J.L., will also be signing their new hiking guide The Afternoon Hiker.  The beautiful Great Smoky Mountains provide the inspiration for The Afternoon Hiker.  This unique hiking guide—designed especially for the average tourist or hiking enthusiast seeking a morning or afternoon walk in the Smokies that will prove pleasant and fun. All 110 hikes in The Afternoon Hiker are easily accessibe and average 6 - 8 miles roundtrip.

This is the perfect hiking guide for the occasional hiker, for busy professionals wanting to get away to the mountains for a weekend or for tourists visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  The guidebook focuses on the early sections of 110 easily accessible hiking trails around the Great Smoky Mountains.  The hiking layout of the book is one of its most distinctive features.  With every turn of the page, the reader encounters a new trail to read about.  Each Tennessee or North Carolina hike description spreads over two pages, around accompanying photos with the trail name, the season the trail was first hiked, a general rating of the hike and clear directions to get to the trailhead.  The book includes over 300 color photos to enhance the text plus a hiking patch created for each trail.
