As Executive Director, Shelby will be responsible for managing a host of volunteers, signature events, programs, fundraising initiatives, and working with the public. “This is an amazing time to join NAMI and I am honored and excited to take on the challenge,” says Shelby who is the first person to step into this newly created position.
“Shelby knows the demands of the nonprofit market with fundraising, community development and public relations. We are confident she will play an integral role in guiding the growth of NAMI Broward," said Edna Einhorn, NAMI Broward’s President.
Shelby says her vision for NAMI’s future is to focus on a broadening array of programs, client services, and increasing fundraising goals. “I look forward to raising standards in all aspects of our community offerings,” says Decker. “NAMI Broward stands as a powerful advocate within Florida and nation-wide. We have outstanding volunteers, an active board of directors and mental health care providers that support each other.”
“Our signature event, NAMIwalk will be held in November and is a priority. I am going to get out there and personally work to make its second year a huge success.”
