A Bain in the neck for Phil Taylor

April 23, 2014 - PRLog -- It’s not every day that you get to take on a legend at their own game, and win.

But that’s exactly what happened to Plumb Center’s Jamie Bain, who knocked Phil “The Power” Taylor out of a darts tournament in Wigan.

Jamie, who works at Plumb Center’s Aberdeen branch, is a semi-professional darts player who travels around the UK, and further afield, to take part in competitions.

And he pulled off a shock result at the PDPA Players Championship in Wigan on 13 April, after he dumped (arguably) the best darts player of all time Phil “The Power” Taylor out of the competition.

Despite Taylor’s 200 professional tournaments, including 80 major titles and a record 16 World Championships (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Professional_Darts_Championship), Jamie won the match 6-4.

“It was a great feeling,” said Jamie. “I don’t get to go head-to-head with a legend like The Power very often, so to win the match was unbelievable.

“I’ve been throwing darts for six years so on paper Taylor should have destroyed me, but I managed to grab the win.

“I just want to concentrate on my game and get better and better, but this was definitely a highlight.”

Jamie is ranked 120 by the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) and is continuing his journey on the semi-professional circuit with several competitions coming up.
