CAMDEN, N.J. - April 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Each year 4.7 million people in the U.S. are bitten by dogs, with children and the elderly the most common victims. Surprisingly, the vast majority of these bites are not caused by “vicious” dog attacks, but during every day interactions with family pets. The good news is that many of these bites are entirely preventable.

National Dog Bite Prevention Week is May 13-20, 2014 and NJ Aid for Animals, the leader in innovative ideas to promote the health and safety of dogs and their humans, is hosting Jim Crosby, world-renowned canine aggression specialist to visit New Jersey.

Jim Crosby is a former law enforcement officer, animal control officer and animal shelter manager who now consults all over the world to owners, veterinarians, animal shelters, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel. His keen insight into dog behavior has helped solved cases in the United States, the UK, Canada and India.  He has also conducted training worldwide on how to reliably assess a dog’s potential for rehabilitation and how to “read” a dog’s behavior to avoid injury.

Jim is available to speak on a broad range of issues:
- Investigating and prosecuting dog bite cases, particularly those that result in severe human injuries or fatalities
- Training law enforcement and humane officers on how to correctly identify and deal with canine aggression
- Training shelter employees and dog trainers on how to conduct behavioral evaluations to determine the potential for rehabilitation for “aggressive” dogs
- Teaching the public how to prevent dog bites through training and supervision

If your group is interested in hosting Jim on any of the above topics or to schedule an interview, please contact NJ Aid forAnimals.

"National Dog Prevention Week is so important.  This allows an opportunity to train the communities so dog bites can be avoided.  We hope everyone will at least attend one seminar during this week", said Kathy McGuire, Founder of NJ Aid for Animals. "Please visit our website for a detailed schedule and book your spot."
