By: Notre Dame of Maryland University The Pro Urbe Award will be presented tomorrow evening to Marin Alsop, Music Director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; Doreen Bolger, Director of the Baltimore Museum of Art; Rebecca Hoffberger, Director of the American Visionary Art Museum; and Julia Marciari- Alexander, Executive Director of the Walters Art Museum. Meaning “for the city,” the honor is presented to select individuals whose accomplishments within the community have had lasting impact. The initial award was presented in 1986 to visionary developer James Rouse, and honorees have included former BSO music director David Zinman, Eunice Kennedy Shriver and Robert Sargent Shriver, Jr., and Walter Sondheim, Jr. The awards will be presented on April 22 as part of The Arts Transforming Communities, the Charles J. Busta III Lecture in Business, which features a panel in which the four arts leaders will discuss the ways their organizations are effecting real change in the city. The discussion will be moderated by Caroline Busta, associate editor, Artforum magazine. The event, which begins at 7 p.m., is free and open to the public with registration at http://www.ndm.edu/ The Charles J. Busta III lecture series is designed to showcase the thoughts and experiences of business leaders, especially women leaders, in order to encourage creativity and personal growth in women. The series was created in memory of Charles J. “CB” Busta, a Notre Dame trustee and marketing executive who died in 2000. All individuals invited to speak are recognized experts in their chosen fields. We seek inspirational professionals of integrity who have made a real difference, overcome significant obstacles or demonstrated dramatic, unexpected success. We especially seek women professionals with these strengths in an effort to present strong role models who can set a standard of achievement for Notre Dame students. End
