Director Louise Bowers addressed an audience of 40 at the Royal Conference Centre, and described her meteoric rise in just three years, starting out in a single room and going on to win the 2013 West Berkshire Best New Business Award.
In just the last year, PurpleFox has increased the revenue of an events and conference management firm by 30%. It has also sourced £800,000 worth of potential new business for a start-up that launched in January.
The key to success is trust, and that is one of the reasons PurpleFox gets so much repeat business. Louise explains: “There are many businesses that offer a single solution to a marketing need. That’s not the case with us; we look at the whole picture, and brand ourselves as being your outsourced marketing department. Whatever you need, we can provide whether it is digital marketing, an email campaign, launch events or tele-marketing services.
“We share a similar ethos to that of our clients. We believe in our product and we want to give something back to the communities we work in. That’s how business should work and that’s how it flourishes. The only limitations are those you self impose and we can break through that.”
During her talk Louise gave practical advice to those looking to start their own ventures, and reminded them of the hard work and hours that are necessary in the early stages.
“You may find yourself being the MD, the office manager, the receptionist, the salesman and even the cleaner in the beginning, but once your company gets traction and recognition it is so worthwhile and extremely rewarding. The benefit your work can bring to another business is more rewarding than any traditional nine-five job. Just be prepared that yours may be a lot longer in those early years!”
