Follow on Google News | Caravan Honored With Jackie Robinson AwardIn 1998, Baseball Commissioner Allan H. “Bud” Selig authorized the creation of MLB’s Diverse Business Partners Program. The program is dedicated to establishing and growing new and existing partnerships with minority and women-owned businesses. Their goal is to increase business opportunities within MLB for minority and women-owned businesses. In 2004, Commissioner Selig announced that every April 15th would be dedicated to honor Robinson’s impact on baseball and American society. On this day, all MLB players, coaches and umpires wear his Number 42. The Jackie Robinson MVDBP award is a key component in the program to honor top performing minority/women- “We are extremely honored to receive this award from the Detroit Tigers and Major League Baseball,” says Caravan Chairman/CEO Brandon J. Bordeaux. “I just want to thank the Tigers and Major League Baseball for this award. Also, I would like to thank all of our hard working employees who made this recognition possible.” Brandon J. Bordeaux, was scheduled to accept the award during an on-field ceremony at Comerica Park on Tuesday the 15th, which is “Jackie Robinson Day” throughout Major League Baseball. However, due to inclement weather, the game was cancelled and a rescheduled date is to be determined.
