No Call Waiting To Be Expected Here!

Some of us drift through life without recognizing the purpose for which God has created us to be here in the first place! Consider the call you have received.

ALBANY, N.Y. - April 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Each of us is called by God.   Some of us do not hear the call or perhaps, do not know how to recognize it.   Some of us hear the call loud and clear, but ignore it for a while, thinking they will find their happiness elsewhere.   One thing is clear to me:   God only calls us to a way of life that will make us happy.   To be "happy" is not to be "without suffering".   That seems to be the rub.   Too often, we look for a way of life that will be problem free.  Perhaps we have been conditioned through our society to expect a cinematic relationship or a consumer-satisfied happiness that money or other kinds of success seem to promise.  I think that most of us have realized that after we live the "dream" or buy the product, we still have an ache inside that is unfulfilled.   Our life here is temporary and we are just passing through.   We are called on the way to be the persons that God has created us to be.

I once talked with a 50 year old woman, who at that time, did not think she knew what she wanted to do with her life.   She was restless and anxious.   She could see clearly the path she was being called to take, but each time she arrived at this point in her search, she could not make the final decision to do what she knew what her calling.   I think of her from time-to-time, for 30 years have passed since we talked.  I wonder if she ever found her purpose.   I am saddened when I think that she did not.

The Vocation Office of the Diocese of Albany is welcoming "Catholics on Call" for the weekend of October 10-12, 2014.   This is a dynamic weekend for young adults who want to grow in the discernment skills which will help them to put the puzzle pieces of their lives together a bit and begin to see the artistry of God's hand in their lives.   It is a weekend that will give meaningful and faithfilled direction.   Young Adults who have had this experience in the past, have said it was a life-changer for them.

Lest the reader think that "Oh, this is being sponsored by the Vocation Office, so that means it will center on vocations to the priesthood or religious life," this thought could not be further from the truth.   The weekend is a non-pressured experience which will lead each person to freely explore the niche God has carved out for their lives.   All vocations are sacred.   The planning and commitment to this weekend is backed by the heartfelt desire that we help our young adults along the way.

If you are a Catholic young adult or if you know one who would benefit from this weekend, please consider registering to reserve your space now.   Space is limited and emails are beginning to come in.

There is no call-waiting where God is concerned.  God is always available to us whenever we call upon God's mercy, kindness or help of any kind.   Catholics on Call in Albany, NY will help us answer God's Call too and hopefully, as faithfully as God answers us.

We look forward to welcome you to Catholics on Call in Albany, NY!
