The Mental Health Association of Minnesota Hosts 75th Diamond Anniversary Celebration

 
April 21, 2014 - PRLog -- SAINT PAUL, April 21, 2014 – The Mental Health Association of Minnesota (MHAM) is pleased to announce its 75th Diamond Anniversary Celebrationon Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree Park Place Hotel in Saint Louis Park, MN.

The event will open with a cocktail hour including hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and silent auction. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. Guests will have a choice of Grilled Sirloin Steak, Cranberry Citrus Stuffed Chicken, or Vegetarian Fettuccini. Belinda Jensen, KARE-11 Chief Meteorologist, will host the evening’s program. The 2014 Gloria Segal Award for excellence in improving the lives of people living with mental illnesses will be presented to Bill Conley. Governor Mark Dayton is scheduled to speak at the event, and videos from Senator Al Franken and Senator Amy Klobuchar will be shown with their remarks on mental health in Minnesota. The evening will come to a close with dessert and a raffle drawing.

The Board of Directors and staff of MHAM are proud to be celebrating this milestone event! MHAM is Minnesota’s first mental health advocacy and outreach organization. Founded in 1939, the organization’s mission is to enhance mental health, promote individual empowerment, and increase access to treatments and services for persons with mental illnesses. All proceeds from this event will support MHAM’s mental health advocacy and outreach throughout Minnesota. The agency provides individual advocacy to help individuals and families navigate the mental health system and access community resources for mental health care, housing, employment, and other services. MHAM represents people with mental illnesses in public policy to increase mental health system capacity and protect individual rights. The agency also raises awareness of mental health issues in the general public and offers programs and resources to individuals, families, front line providers, faith communities and the general public.
