Actually Santa is none other than the author Joe Moore, of the increasingly popular series called the Santa Claus Trilogy. He will be making an appearance at the Arts & Crafts area of the Mayfest event at Pilot Mountain in North Carolina on May 9th through 11th.
Moore wrote and published the trilogy, with the third novel having been just released this year. He not only writes about Santa Claus and his village, but he spends the last two months of the year portraying Santa all over the Southeast in his custom made suits. Moore is an expert in all things Santa Claus and does interviews as Santa discussing events in the North Pole, including discussions of reindeer, elves and hot Christmas toys for kids.
The Mayfest, which takes place in the quaint historic downtown of Pilot Mountain, is the home to this annual Mother's Day Weekend event. The celebration attracts over 25,000 people from the surrounding area, including many from out of state (up to and including the North Pole).
This very popular festival includes handcrafted arts and crafts, plants and flowers, commercial/retail booths, fun games and activities for kids, great local musicians and performers, and of course yummy festival food! The shops and restaurants on Main St. join in to add to the overall shopping and dining pleasures.
Santa (Moore) will be there to dedicate and autograph his books which consist of the following three novels:
Believe Again, The North Pole Chronicles begins the trilogy by showing how the elves and the North Pole came into being. It actually takes place from the late 18th century and proceeds through the generations and centuries until modern time. It shows how the elves chose Santa Claus and how the various legends came to exist.
Faith, Hope & Reindeer is a present day snapshot of a week in the North Pole where several families that are struggling to do good have lost their faith and hope from the problems of their lives. They receive an all-expense paid vacation but they don't know their final destination. They end up in the North Pole where Santa and the village restore their faith and hope and they learn that miracles still exist. This book is currently being planned as a major motion picture scheduled for Christmas, 2015
The third book changes everything, says Moore, Santa's North Pole is melting and he and the residents of their North Pole Village have to find a new home before the village crashes into the Arctic Ocean. He promises that Glaciers Melt & Mountains Smoke will change the Santa Claus legend for all time.
