Follow on Google News | Annual Southport Indiana Easter Egg HuntAdults and kids alike get into the Easter fun during Southport’s annual Egg Hunt
By: Southport Events “This is what living in a small community is all about,” said Marylynne Winslow, director of the Parks Department. “There must have been 15 people come help set up the night before. That’s why I live in Southport – the community.” The event, put on by the City of Southport and the Parks Department, continued an Easter tradition and provided a great family atmosphere with free pictures with the Easter bunny, the egg hunt, crafts and food. The 1,263 eggs that were hidden contained candy and plastic coins. Children could bring in their coins and choose from a range of prizes. Three golden eggs were hidden and additional prizes were awarded to the children who found those. Landon Lochard, age three, was given a plush Easter Bunny. Allie Zaiser, 8, and Chase Poynter, 8, were awarded large, filled Easter baskets. Additional egg hunts were organized for children who arrived late. “They did a good job and it seemed that everyone had a good time,” said Roger Poynter, who brought his grandson to the event. “I like that they seemed to be well-prepared and they had enough for everyone.” For more information on Second Saturdays in Southport, visit southportevents.org.
