CARLISLE, Pa. - April 21, 2014 - PRLog -- During the weekend of August 8-10 the town of Bloomsburg comes to life with collector car excitement as part of the 2014 Bloomsburg Nationals Presented by PPG.  The event takes place at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds but the fun isn’t limited solely to the grounds during event weekend.  In addition to the three full days of fun at the fairgrounds, enthusiasts and showgoers alike converge on downtown Bloomsburg for the always-popular Grid Lock Parade and Car Cruise.  New in 2014, this Friday afternoon showcase is sponsored by Marley’s Brewery and Grille as well as the West End Ale Haus.

As a way to give back to the supportive community, the parade is free for anyone who chooses to line the streets of downtown Bloomsburg on Friday (8/8) beginning at approximately 2 p.m.  Not only do the cars cruise from the fairgrounds past the monument at the square and towards Lightstreet Road, they park for a handful of hours so that drivers and spectators can mingle, talk shop and enjoy the automotive timeline on display.  This parade is also a great opportunity for enthusiasts to pop into a local shop or restaurant to browse, buy and dine before returning to the fairgrounds for the Friday evening Flames R’ Us showcase.

Two popular hot spots within Bloomsburg have proudly put pen to paper as official sponsors for the parade in 2014.  Those venues, Marley’s Brewery and Grille as well as the West End Ale Haus are working with Carlisle Events and the Bloomsburg Nationals officially for the first time in 2014 and aim to be a stopping point before, during or after the parade by both event participants and community members.  Marley’s is just one mile from downtown Bloomsburg on Route 11 (1323 Columbia Blvd.) and features their award winning beers which are brewed onsite as well as a menu filled with delicious food.  The West End Ale Haus is Bloomsburg's newest hot spot, with a huge craft beer selection as well as domestics and unique "Pub Grub."  The Ale House can be found at 117 W. Main St.

"We're excited to partner with Carlisle Events for the Downtown Parade, especially since it’s always been one of the best parts of the Bloomsburg Nationals,” said Marketing Director Paul Shaw.  “Marley's got its start right on Main St. and has since moved to Route 11 only a mile from downtown. With Marley’s located just north of downtown and the recent opening of the West End Ale Haus, enthusiasts now have two great options to stop in for a beer and great food at both the beginning and end of the parade route!"

In addition to the downtown Friday parade and aforementioned Flames R’ Us event onsite, the Bloomsburg weekend welcomes collector cars and hot rods spanning all eras of automotive production.  As long as it has wheels and engine, it’s welcome at Bloomsburg.  There is a special AMC display, Date Night promotion with live music and a movie and a Saturday demolition derby.  Complete event details can be found via the Carlisle Events web page or by calling 717-243-7855.
