STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - April 20, 2014 - PRLog -- The National Eid Toy and Gift Drive was started to ensure that children from low to moderate income homes in the Islamic community and children who receive childcare services from Muslim owned/managed daycare facilities who receive government funding to supplement their fees are given toys and gifts during the celebration that begins immediately following the 29 or 30 days of the Ramadan fast. Many parents of non-Muslim children who receive toys during this time put them away for their Christmas and other holiday celebrations.

Families earning 50K or less and have children in the home at least 50% of the time can apply. Grandparents and legal guardians can also apply. To receive an application send a request to haleem1@aol.com beginning June 1, in shaa Allah. We ask that all applications are returned within five days of receipt.

The National Eid Toy and Gift Drive 2014 will officially begin June 1, 2014.  We are using our collection boxes in metro Atlanta that we use for our recycle project as drop off locations for the drive this year. We are asking everyone to double bag their donations this year and mark them Eid Toy Drive. We are also strongly encouraging people to donate gift cards from Target, Walmart and Toys are Us.  We must remind everyone to make sure the gift/toy you donate is appropirate for children babies-age 16. We request that no toys or gifts that look like real guns or knives be donated. We also ask that only G-Rated DVDs, games and music be donated. Educational toys and books make great gifts for all ages.

This year the drop off locations are located at:  Masjid Al Farooq, 442 14th Street next to the security window (only). Roswell Community Masjid 345 Market Place, Roswell, the Islamic Center of Marietta 1014 Powder Springs, Marietta, The Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam, 560 Fayetteville Rd. SE, Masjid Ash Shura 3905 Jonesboro Rd., Masjid Al Mo mineen 837 N. Indian Creek Dr., Clarkston, Maidah, 2720 Sylvan Rd. SW, East Point.

All applicants must earn less than $50K per year to qualify to apply for the free toys or gifts. Also children who receive childcare services from Muslim owned/managed daycare facilities who receive government funding to supplement their fees are given toys and gifts during the celebration that begins immediately following the 29 or 30 days of the Ramadan fast. To apply just send a request for an application to haleem1@aol.com. Many parents of non-Muslim children who receive toys during this time from the drive put them away for their Christmas and other holiday celebrations.

The drive also ships toys to Muslim families at military bases and other isolated locations where there may not be an Islamic community nearby. We also accept monetary donations from families and send money to a group of orphan children who attend an Islamic school in a very poor rural area in Ghana. The money sent is used for their Eid Al Fitr Celebration.
