Making sure that all of the students have the opportunity to treat patients with different periodontal needs is one of her goals, and she also wants to make sure they are taught “to realize when referral to the specialist is indicated,” Dr. Nakib said. “I also want to make sure that the student will be competent in Periodontics by the administration of several performance exams, and I hope some students will aspire to seek a specialty in Periodontics.”
A member of the College’s Periodontics faculty for more than 30 years, Dr. Nakib has received the Golden Apple Award and the Department of Periodontics Faculty Development Award for excellence in teaching. She is a member of the Admissions Committee and the Continuing Education Committee.
Dr. Nakib also is in private practice in Chicago and is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Midwest Society of Periodontology, Omicron Kappa Upsilon, and the Odontographic Society, and she also is a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology.
