Texas Media Star Kicks-off Mentorship Program
Montgomery, TX March 27, 2014: A recent study concludes that girls who have mentors have higher academic achievement and are four times less likely to become bullies. Shockingly, only one in five girls believes she has the qualities of a good leader. Building on this fact, Camp Lantern Creek, a Montgomery, Texas summer camp for girls age 7 to 17 years old, is launching its new Bright Lights mentoring program, bringing high-achieving women to camp to inspire, educate and entertain. “Girls love hearing from women who were once just like them – perhaps a bit shy or insecure or confused about their futures. We are picking Bright Lights who are down-to-earth and relatable but have terrific stories to tell about their lives and careers,” says Lantern Creek co-founder Sunni Markowitz.

It was considered such a success that the same technology will be used for parent orientation this year.The camp directors will “visit” prospective parents via computer, tablet, or smart phone. Says Markowitz, “So many parents are pressed for time these days, but they still want to meet the camp directors and learn about program details. Moms and dads can dial-in from wherever they are!” The first party was held on March 26th.
