NEW YORK - April 17, 2014 - PRLog -- “Of Many” is a game changer. Premiering at Tribeca, never before have the walls been broken down between two religious groups with such history of tensions. It took two men of modern day times, from two totally different perspectives, backgrounds, and faiths to forage a relationship and grow to mutually respect the narratives of each other. Through their actions and dialogue with each other, they have shown students on NYU’s campus of different faith how to be tolerant and respectful of those who are different.

This is a film for all of us.  It’s a gift for the entire world to show each and every one of us, how it can be done and how it should be done. With a shared meal, a shared task, a common goal, and mutual respect, we all can get along if we make that choice.

Directed by Linda Mills, who is Vice Chancellor for Global Programs at NYU and meticulously Executive Produced by Chelsea Clinton, the film “Of Many” documents the lives of Imam Khalid Latif, the Muslim Chaplain at NYU, and Rabbi Yehuda Sarna the Jewish Chaplain at NYU. Although their initial meeting began as a response to a world event that translated into potential tensions rising on campus between Muslims and Jews, the dialogue between these two unlikely allies set the stage for catalytic change on NYU’s campus for a multi-faith community. It was this relationship of Sarna & Latif that strengthened relations between the two religious groups that gave birth to the Of Many Foundation, and attracted the involvement of Clinton, Mills, and others. Key to this development was the observation that the unorthodox work and friendship of a Rabbi and an Imam could be the basis for a new model of multi-faith collaborative work and development at NYU and beyond.

Through group meetings, prayers, outings, and even combined efforts of these religious groups in community volunteer efforts, as building blocks, student by student, mutual respect grew between students of different faiths.

“Of Many” is full of many poetic and poignant points these young, yet game changing leaders share with our leaders of tomorrow. Rabbi Sarna and Imam Latif are likeable characters, down to earth, and full of realistic points not just about religion but also human behavior.

Only when you have been discriminated against for your religious beliefs can you understand the magnitude this film’s impact has. People have been fighting for religious beliefs since the beginning of time, and for the first time in history, a film captures the reality of what can happen when we exercise what is to be human…and extend the olive branch to our fellow man despite his difference of opinion and belief. Peace, not war, without the pot, acid, and irresponsibility the 60’s brought, “Of Many” is a movement of today that is very powerful, as it proves it realistically can work.

We work on many amazing projects, and I’m hesitant to say that one is better than the other. (www.creativeaudiopost.com). They all are special and unique in their own way, but this film hit home for me, and from the first time I watched it to the 20th time we screened it, every time, I was filled with raw emotion as it embodies all that you hope for the world to achieve…acceptance, understanding, and peace.

This is a must see for everyone.
