Starkey Mortgage’s Tom Thuss, Nicole Carson Recognized Among Nation’s Top Originators

HICKORY, N.C. - April 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Starkey Mortgage (WR Starkey Mortgage, LLP NMLSR# 2146) congratulates Tom Thuss and Nicole Carson for each being ranked as a Scotsman Guide 2013 Top Originator. Tom was ranked #10 and Nicole was ranked #21 in the “Top USDA Volume” category. The fifth-annual ranking, published earlier this month, rates the nation's top-producing mortgage professionals.  Starkey Mortgage has long accepted the Scotsman Guide as the mortgage industry's most comprehensive, most intensely verified list of its kind.

Tom and Nicole ranked against strong competition; a record-breaking 1,500 entries were submitted this year. Tom, a loan officer and manager of Starkey Mortgage’s Lenoir, NC branch, estimates that he placed over 60 families into the USDA program last year. Nicole, a senior loan officer at Starkey Mortgage’s Hickory, NC branch, placed 46 families into the program. USDA Home Loans supplies 100% financing for a home purchase, or refinancing in a USDA designated rural area.

According to submission applications, it was a banner year for originators. The top 200 originators on the list saw a volumes increase of more than 58 percent over 2011 volumes, and 95 percent of entrants saw an increase in overall volume from 2011 to 2012.

Eligibility for initial consideration in Scotsman Guide’s Top Originators rankings requires that originators have at least $30 million in loan volume or 100 closed home loans for the 2012 calendar year. Only loans and volume that originators closed personally are considered. After receiving submissions, Scotsman Guide required written verification of top entrants’ volume from a certified public accountant, the chief financial officer at the originator’s company or a similar source. This verification process makes Scotsman Guide’s Top Originators ranking the most intensely reviewed, accurate and substantiated ranking of its kind.
