Healthy Kids Day in Thousand Oaks
Each year, more than 1,500 YMCAs around the country set aside a day to reach out to kids and families and encourage them to improve their health, fitness and well-being. “Summer is right around the corner. Too many kids spend their time from school playing video games instead of being outside getting exercise. It’s also tempting to eat junk food instead of balanced meals,” says Haley Swenson, Conejo Y program director. “Healthy Kids Day will include fun active play and educational activities to keep kids moving and learning. We hope the afternoon will inspire them to be healthy and active all year long."
Healthy Kids Day includes a fitness scavenger hunt, crafts, healthy snacks and health-related vendors. Sponsors are Oak Park Dentistry for Children and Bank of America.
