PRLog - Apr. 17, 2014 - ELM GROVE, Wis. -- Many busy executives and harried leaders freely acknowledge they’d be lost without the administrative person who works side by side with them, keeping important projects on track and ensuring they aren’t scheduled in two places at once.

Administrative Professionals Week, April 21-25, is the ideal time to tell these employees how much they are appreciated – and a beautiful flower arrangement is the perfect vehicle for doing so.

“The colors, textures and fragrances of flowers can be a week-long symbol of how much an administrative professional’s contributions are valued,” said Denise Barnett, co-owner of Snapdragon Flowers of Elm Grove. “A bouquet resting on an employee’s desk is a constant reminder that their supervisor values their hard work, and didn’t miss the opportunity to express thanks.”

Few hard and fast rules apply for giving flowers during Administrative Professionals Week. Barnett (http://elmgroveflowershop.com/occasions/thank-you.html) suggested matching an arrangement to the recipient’s personality, or their favorite color. Be choosy about the vase, too. A unique vase – with a different shape, colors or even etched glass - can be a keepsake used over and over.

The only “no-no” for Administrative Professionals Week is giving red roses, usually reserved for romance. “Buyer beware” also applies. A local florist ties their reputation to every bouquet sold or delivered. Mail-order flowers often have handling fees and arrive “some assembly required,” such as trimming and arranging.

“When choosing flowers as a symbol of appreciation, a good rule of thumb is always ‘Buy local, buy fresh,’” Barnett (http://elmgroveflowershop.com/flowers/mixed-bouquets.html) said. “If you consider an administrative employee or team to be your ‘right-hand’ assistant, then let a professional florist be your ‘left-hand’ resource to make their week special.”

The benefits don’t stop at smiles and good will. A recent eight-month study by Texas A&M University (http://www.aboutflowers.com/health-benefits-a-research/wo...) showed a strong link between workplace productivity and the presence of flowers and plants. The research found that employees’ innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities improved substantially when natural blooms and greenery are added to work environments. Even science agrees with giving flowers to employees!

Administrative Professionals Week begins Monday. Barnett suggested placing flowers orders by Friday to be ready for delivery on Monday, or calling orders in to a florist first thing Monday morning.
