ANNA MARIA CITY, Fla. - April 16, 2014 - PRLog -- WEDU PBS will premiere its most recent original documentary production titled HISTORIC GREEN VILLAGE: GENERATING THE FUTURE, TREASURING THE PAST on Thursday, April 24 at 9:00 p.m. The 30-minute documentary explores how the Historic Green Village on Anna Maria Island, Florida has become a showcase for sustainable living, electrical generation and water conservation by recycling and renovating historic buildings in the area.

The Historic Green Village, master planned by British couple Mike and Lizzie Thrasher, is one of only 100 places in the world to have achieved the highest possible green building standard – Platinum LEED – PLUS at the same time Net Zero Energy, for the first 18 months of operation. The couple planned how to make the buildings and infrastructure work well together to maximize the resources that Florida has on offer – a beautiful natural environment, sunshine, rainwater above and groundwater 450′ below.

HISTORIC GREEN VILLAGE: Generating the Future, Treasuring the Pastwas made possible in part byAnna Maria Island Preservation Trust.
