Zoso Interviewed by Students of Unique Middle School Classic Rock Class

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - April 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Many events in American history from the 1950’s through the 80’s have shared a strong connection with the music that gained notoriety during the same period: classic rock. To school teacher Katy Simpson, it was important to create a class that could tie together some the music that served as a powerful soundtrack to some of the more notable events that shaped our Nation.

Ms. Simpson is a music teacher at Woodland Park Middle School in Colorado Springs, CO. Two years ago she created a curriculum for her Rock and Roll class because of her own love for the music. “My mom handed me a Beatles LP when I was 10 and I was sold on rock music after that. I also think that classic rock is incredibly relevant to popular culture and a landmark in American history. Over the past two years, I have created an entire rock curriculum from scratch. When I first started teaching the class, I had 10 students and now I have full class for 30 students and a waiting list for the course.”

The Rock and Roll class also attends a tribute band show once each semester, so they can experience first-hand some of the music they have studied in the classroom. Simpson also leads her students on outings to the music store to discuss electric guitar types and brands.

Zoso received a request from Ms. Simpson to interview a member of the band about the experience of breathing life into some of music that she teaches her class about. The result was a 16 minute interview of the students' questions, with lead singer Matt Jernigan delving into what it’s like being in a successful Led Zeppelin tribute, and how Zoso came to be.

In the interview Jernigan also recounts some of his personal experiences and influences in music, points out some of the key differences between today’s music landscape and the heyday of classic rock, and even works in references to Britney Spears and Leonardo DiCaprio.
