NBV and the Cavendish Consortium

In 2012, NBV became a member of the Cavendish Consortium, establishing itself as one of the key enterprise agencies in the East Midlands.

But what is the Cavendish Consortium and, more importantly, why should it interest you?

What is the Cavendish Consortium?

The Cavendish Consortium is made up of six not-for-profit enterprise agencies that operate throughout the UK delivering business support services to those who wish to start, or grow, a business.

Selected on merit and expertise, members of the Consortium are the most prominent social-enterprise agencies working across the country including BBV in the North-West, and Enterprise First in the South-East.

Responsible for the East Midlands region is the team at NBV Enterprise Solutions that has, to date, helped over 60,000 young businesses flourish in the region.

What does this mean to you?

NBV’s involvement with the Consortium lends itself to partner with household names such as the Virgin Group and Barclays bank, among others. These partnerships help us expand upon our existing range of support programmes and funding pools, giving a greater scope of opportunity for pre-start and start-up businesses.

This means if you live within an eligible area in the East Midlands you will be able to access free business support packages that are tailored to your individual business needs and personal circumstances.

Not only that, if eligible you will receive the relevant training and support to make your business investment-ready, and receive hands-on help to apply for funding.

What are the support services available?

NBV currently provides two pre-start support services as part of the Cavendish Consortium. They are the Ready for Business programme and Virgin StartUp loans.

Ready for Business Programmeis an intensive support programme starting with a one day seminar covering the basics of running a business. From there, applicants will receive support in the development of a business plan, assistance in the application for funding, and on-going support after business start-up.

Virgin StartUp helps entrepreneurs aged 18 years and over develop their business idea, access mentoring support, attend workshops and master classes and apply for a start-up loan.

For established businesses trading for 12 months or less you can enrol on the Grow your Business Programme. The programme includes a business needs assessment, mentoring support, access to master classes and the opportunity to apply for grant funding.
